A'kure-- Let's Heal A Nation!

In the beginning, there was an idea to create something so beautiful, so amazing, and oh so necessary... but wait, where do we start? How do we begin to create; nonetheless, express this phenomenon that so many of us unconsciously yearn for. (myself included)

Our legacy, our purpose, and our motivation to thrive has been severed for far too long. Now is the time to rediscover our foundation.

Our Children's Network, a grassroots movement, was founded to reconnect our children and community to whom we come from; through education and entertainment (ed-u-tainment) It's time that we reach our fullest potential.

We are smart enough to know that we cannot do this alone; however, we pray that this blog will inspire you to support and see this movement through.

1947: Percival Prattis, of Our World in New York City, becomes the first black news correspondent admitted to the House and Senate press galleries in Washington, DC.

1948: Portralist and illustrator Laura Wheeler Waring dies in Philadelphia.

1913: Rosa Parks, initiator of the Montgomery, AL bus boycott, is born in Tuskegee, AL.

1969: The Popular Liberation Movement of Angola begins armed struggle against the country's colonial Portuegese government.

Saturday, February 5th

1934: Hank Aaron, a major league baseball home run king, is born in Mobile, AL.

1994: White supremacist Byron de la Beckwith is convicted of the murder of Megar Evers, more than 30 years after Evers was ambushed and shot in the back.

Sunday, February 6th

1926: Negro History Week, originated by Carter G. Woodson, is observed for the first time.

1993: Arthur Ashe, tennis player, humanitarian and activist dies in New York City.
